Viv: Ramdin is Future WI Captain

West Indies batting legend Sir Viv Richards has 21-year-old wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin as a future captain of the Caribbean side.

"I'd put my head, whole body and soul behind that. At this stage, I'd like to think that [Shivnarine] Chanderpaul would be interim," Richards said.

"If we're looking for the future development of West Indies cricket, Ramdin, because of the intelligence shown in the couple of matches I've seen him play, would most certainly be the choice in my opinion," Richards said in an interview with the Barbados Nation

On the decision to retain Chanderpaul for the tour of New Zealand, Richards said: "He is the most experienced individual at this point. Even though in the last series, he wasn't that successful, we must give him an opportunity."

"If you look at the qualities that Ramdin brings to our team.I think we'd have to turn our attention at some point to this individual," he added.
